FR.ED. NH FAQs

My chapter is celebrating their anniversary (25th, 50th, 75th, etc.).  How do I reserve the table badge?

Congratulations on your chapter’s milestone!  To make the Chapter Anniversary Ceremony complete it is always nice, but not required, to use the table badge with electric candles.  Borrowing of the table badge is arranged through our National Headquarters.  You must contact them 6 weeks in advance to ensure timely delivery of the badge, if it is available.  Once you have finished with the badge, the chapter is then responsible for returning it to National Headquarters.  The cost to the chapter is the $15 rental fee, $20 for the shipping and handling. (See p. 9-2 in the CPM)

I hear that the current ritual is being revised/standardized.  When will the new ritual be distributed?

The current ritual has been revised/reworked and is at the printer!  The newly reworked ritual will be premiered at the 2009 National Convention in Chicago, IL.  The new books will be distributed in the fall of 2009.

What will the procedure be for the collection of the old and distribution of the new ritual books?

All chapter, collegiate and alumnae, will be required to return their current ritual books to National Headquarters at the end of the 2008-09 fraternity year (May 15 for collegiate and June 1 for alumnae, or as soon as the last chapter ritual is completed).  Chapters will be fined for any ritual books lost and/or not returned.  The new books will be mailed to chapters in September of 2009, in time for the new school year.
*NOTE:  Chapters MUST return ritual books in order to have a vote at National Convention and have a Fall 2009 MIT class (collegiate) or Fall affiliations/initiations (alumnae).*

Our chapter ritual books have different years on them and the words don’t match.  Are they outdated?

The last ritual revision was completed in 1990.  However, in 2001 a few ceremonies were added and/or changed.  At that time, the Master Ritual books were reprinted, but the Abridged Ritual books were not.  So, your abridged books will have the date of 1990 while the master copies will have 2001.  Whenever in doubt concerning wordings or actual ceremonies always refer to the 2001 Master Ritual book.

What is the mandatory date which ALL chapters must have battery-powered candles?

All chapters, collegiate and alumnae, must have battery-powered candles no later than June 2009!

Our chapter ritual books are worn.  Can we get them replaced?  What is the procedure?

If your chapter ritual books are falling apart or have pages missing they may be returned for replacement.  The books should be mailed to the NVP-Ritual at the address found on the rainbow sheets via certified mail.  Once they are received, new books will be mailed to the chapter.  Always inform the National Vice President, Ritual of your intent prior to mailing any books.

It says the chapter VPR is to complete an end of the year report.  What is that?

The collegiate chapter VPR should make a report to the chapter at the conclusion of the school year.  She must also send a copy of the ritual check list to her Province Officer no later than  May 15.

The alumnae chapter VPR must complete the Alumnae Chapter Annual Ritual Report and mail it to the appropriate officers no later than June 1.  She also makes a report to the chapter at the conclusion of the fraternity year.

Who completes the chapter ritual inventory report and when is it done?

The collegiate chapter ritual inventory report is completed during the chapter’s official visit from the Province Officer.  The report is to be completed by the Province Officer, with the assistance of the chapter VPR.

The alumnae chapter ritual inventory report is part of the Alumnae Chapter Annual Ritual Report which is completed in the spring and mail to the appropriate officers no later than June 1.
